For Immediate Release For more information contact: Senator Norm Coleman Opens Independent Community Bankers of MN Annual Convention in August Eagan, MN, July 17, 2003 Senator Norm Coleman is the opening speaker at this year’s Independent Community Bankers of Minnesota (ICBM) annual convention. Coleman will speak at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, August 8, at Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria. The convention runs from August 7 through 10. In addition to Senator Coleman, the convention speakers include General John W. Vessey (ret.), former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Glenn Wilson, Minnesota Commerce Commissioner; Dan McElroy, Minnesota Commissioner of Finance; and Keith Nord, a former Minnesota Vikings player. Convention attendees will also have the opportunity to meet ICBM’s new Executive Director/CEO Will Haddeland, and participate in retirement festivities for Al Olson, who led the association for 15 years. The convention theme, “Leading the Way,” centers on ICBM’s 41 years of focus on independent community banking. ICBM has spearheaded major initiatives like the nation’s first bankers’ bank and a community bank technology resource program. “ICBM sets its agenda based on the needs of Minnesota’s independent community banks,” says Haddeland. “Our convention offers bankers from across the state the opportunity to get together, network, share information, and take home some new ideas.” ICBM, headquartered in Eagan, represents nearly 500 independent community bank locations with assets exceeding $19 billion. The association’s mission is to provide active leadership for its members on programs, products, services and the preservation of a competitive environment.
