ICBM Names
William Haddeland Executive Director/CEO
Eagan, MN, April 30, 2003
The Independent Community Bankers of
Minnesota (ICBM) today named William G. Haddeland as their new Executive
Director/CEO. He will assume the position on May 1, effecting a seamless
transition as Allen I. Olson, who has led the association since 1988,
retires in December. Haddeland was selected from a field of more than
145 applicants.
"We're very pleased to welcome Will aboard," said Christopher
Skaalen, ICBM Chairman. "His broad and extensive background in
public affairs, communications, and management will make him a strong
voice for ICBM among our members and prospective members, as well as
within the legislative and regulatory bodies that so greatly affect
community banking." "Will is going to be a great asset to
ICBM," said Al Olson. "His private sector and government
positions have given him a unique perspective and invaluable experience
to further ICBM's goals."
Haddeland most recently provided independent consulting to media, news
and financial organizations. He was the Senior Vice President with
Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) from 1998-2001 and Co-Chairman of the
Stadiums Task Force, and 18-member Minnesota governmental commission in
2001-2002.
From 1981-1998, Haddeland was a Corporate Vice President of Ashland Oil,
Inc. He also served as the Administrator of the Minnesota Senate Finance
Committee, Director of the State of Minnesota Washington Office, and was
a member of the U.S. State Department Acid Rain Negotiation
Commission.
He served on the Board of Trustees of MPR from 1988-1997 and on the
Board of Trustees of Meridian International, a Washington-based
organization that promotes international and intercultural
understanding, from 1991-1996. He currently is a counselor to
Meridian.
Haddeland served on the Board of the MN Chamber of Commerce from
1983-1987 and in 1984 was Chairman of the Chamber's Legislative
Endorsements Committee. In 1998 he was chosen to serve on the U.S.
Chamber of Commerce's Public Affairs Committee. Haddeland is a native of
Waubun, MN. He is an alumnus of Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. He and
his wife, Constance, and son, Karl, reside in Edina, MN.
ICBM, headquartered in Eagan, represents nearly 500 independent
community bank locations with assets exceeding $19 billion. The
association's mission is to provide active leadership for its members on
programs, products, services and the preservation of a competitive
environment. It offers products and services in such areas as
technology, legislation, education, marketing, and purchasing through
programs designed exclusively by and for independent community banks.
