For Immediate Release For more information contact: ICBM President Speaks at World Water Forum in Japan March 24, 2003 Allen I. Olson, president and CEO of the Independent Community Bankers of Minnesota (ICBM), was a presenter at last week’s third annual World Water Forum in Japan. The Forum was organized by the World Water Council and is the largest international conference on water. Olson attended as part of the International Joint Commission (IJC) delegation, an international organization to which President George W. Bush appointed him in 2002. Olson’s presentation highlighted the IJC’s work to assist Canada and the U.S. in reducing flood damage in the Red River basin. He noted that primarily local residents and organizations must handle watershed management, and also stressed IJC’s commitment to supporting and assisting the region in implementing plans to mitigate flood damage. Olson has been the President and CEO of ICBM since 1988 and a year ago announced his planned retirement from the association effective in December 2003. His IJC appointment is a part time position. ICBM, headquartered in Eagan, represents nearly 500 independent community bank locations with assets exceeding $18 billion. The association’s mission is to provide active leadership for its members on programs, products, services and the preservation of a competitive environment. It offers products and services in such areas as technology, legislation, education, marketing, and purchasing through programs designed exclusively by and for independent community banks.
